- In 2021, around 7.01 million families in the USA had three or more children under 18 living in the household³. This was about 8.3 percent of all families in the country³.

- In 2014, the percentage of families in the USA with five or more children was 0.9 percent for all ethnic groups, 1.2 percent for white families, 0.6 percent for black families, 0.5 percent for Asian families, and 1.9 percent for Hispanic families¹.

- In 2016, there were about 32,520 census families in Canada with five or more children, which was about 0.5 percent of all census families in the country. This number includes both married and common-law couples, as well as lone-parent families.
